Tonsils and bad breath are connected in such a way that the tonsils have certain kinds of substances and bacteria that may cause halitosis or bad breath for a person. This is because of the location of the tonsil at the back of the oral cavity. In order for us to fully understand the connection between consoles and bad breath, let us first define the exact location of the tonsil and its many parts.
Parts of the Tonsil
There are four major parts of the tonsil as follows.
1-Nasopharynx- this refers to the area of the upper mouth at the very back of the throat.
2-Pharyngeal Tonsil-or adenoids are located behind the nasal cavity at the upper throat.
3-Palatine Tonsils-is the one located at the very back of the mouth and is visible when the mouth is opened.
4-Lingual Tonsil-the part that is located at the base of the tongue.
Halitosis is primarily caused by the accumulation of bacteria in your mouth. Those bacteria combined with the food particles that are left inside your mouth will definitely cause bad breath if you do not seem it very often.
In connection with the tonsil, these parts of the tonsil have cells that cause it to their main physical attributes. As we all know, cells reproduced and multiply. When they reproduce, they tend to leave off some of the “dead” cells onto the surface of the tonsils thus causing balls of bacteria to accumulate from behind the tongue.
If this happens, these dead cells will therefore emit a foul smelling odor that will be offensive to those who are exposed to them. This condition is therefore aggravated by the remnants of food particles that you leave after eating.
Other Possible Causes of Bad Breath In Connection With Tonsils
A throat infection can also cause bad breath. This is because of the bacteria that the infection will definitely produce. If this bacteria mixes with saliva and the food particles that you eat every day, you will surely experience having foul smelling breath.
Aside from this, any kind of throat or tonsil infection can also affect the odor of a person’s breath. The question still remains, how do we deal with bad breath cause by the throat infection or tonsils?
Bad Breath Cures
1-If you happen to have bad breath because of a throat or tonsil infection, it is best to have a visit to the doctor in order for him to give you the prescription that you may need to cure your infection. The basic principle of the whole thing is to cure what is wrong with your throat. If you are able to do this, the bad breath will slowly fade away.
2-Aside from this, regular brushing of your teeth as well as scrubbing your tongue will help decrease the bacteria that cause bad breath for your mouth. You should also check for tooth decay and plaque so that bacteria will not accumulate inside your mouth.
